Hardware Requirements

Aug 19, 2026Aug 19, 2026

🖥️ The eTailPet software is cloud-based and runs on Google Chrome on a Windows PC without requiring any additional installation. All you need to do is select the hardware for your desired setup. This article goes over the hardware we recommend for your pet store's operations.

Please Note: We are unable to provide hardware support for equipment that was purchased outside of eTailPet. We strongly recommend getting approved hardware from our partner POS Guys, through whom support is included.

Compatibility Overview

  • Please make sure that your hardware devices are compatible with each other and with your desired setup. For example, Chromebooks are NOT recommended for use with the system because they will not have full system functionality, e.g. they are not compatible with many printers. If you have existing hardware that you want to use, please make sure it is compatible with any new hardware purchases.

    • The system should NOT be used with Apple products for eTailPet, as they are not compatible with many areas of the software.
    • You should be using a Windows 11 device with the latest version of Chrome as your web browser.

Credit Card Readers

Here is a list of credit card reader models that can be used with eTailPet.

Current Models Used for eTailPet Payments:

  • Wiseasy P5 (Adyen)
  • WisePOS E / S700 (Stripe)
  • S1F2 (Canada)

Supported Card Terminals for Legacy Processors (e.g. Clover Connect):

  • Ingenico Lane 3000
  • Ingenico iPP320
  • Ingenico iPP350 and iSMP4
  • Ingenico iSC250-Touch

If you're experiencing trouble connecting your card readers, here are a few relevant articles for current card terminals. For Legacy terminals, we are no longer doing new integrations with those processors, so you should first try the Basic Hardware Troubleshooting article below, and any hardware setup support will need to come from the manufacturer. Here are the connection articles for the current terminals:

Register Computer

  • Any Windows computer running Google Chrome will work.
  • Windows no longer supports version 10, so for security purposes you will need a PC running Windows 11 or later.
  • The minimum screen display size for monitors is 15 inches. Users usually prefer a large screen for readability.
  • Make sure your register computer is compatible with your receipt printer, cash drawer, scanner, and label printer if you are printing labels from the register computer.
  • Also make sure your computer is connected to reliable internet with sufficient speed, and that your card terminal is also connected. This article goes into detail on what you will need: Payments Hardware Network Requirements.

Scanner

Any standard scanner will work with eTailPet. Just make sure it is compatible with the rest of your devices.

Examples of scanners include:

Cash Drawer

Receipt Printer

Please Note: Because setup varies so greatly between receipt printer models and makers, we do not offer a general receipt printer setup article. You will need to use the help resources that came with the printer and that are offered online by the manufacturer to set it up. Once it is working properly with your register computer, you will be able to print receipts to it from New Sale, and you can configure preferences for your receipts in the Settings: Stores Tab article in the section on Other Info.

Labels

  • You can easily find labels online on Amazon or ULINE, just make sure they are the correct size.

    • Direct Thermal Labels - 2.25" x 1.25"

Tablet or Laptop

  • We recommend keeping a mobile device that is 10 inches or larger and is Windows or Android-based in your store. This is so you can remotely handle tasks like checking purchase orders or counting inventory.
  • Check that it is compatible with hardware you want to use with it (label printers, hardwired scanners, etc.), and can run the Google Chrome web browser.
  • We do not recommend running customer transactions on these devices.

Customer Facing Display

While this is not required, you can keep a mobile device that shows customers their transaction details in real time using our eTailPet app. This must be an Android device that is at least 7 inches long or wide. Apple devices are not compatible.

Please Note: If you have trouble with hardware setup, check that your devices are compatible with each other and refer to the manufacturer's instructions or manual. You may need to contact a hardware specialist for further help. If you ordered your hardware from POS Guys, you can reach out to them for support on setup, if needed.
